A Message from Paulo Hernandez-Farella, A Summer Intern at The Music Center
My name is Paulo Hernandez-Farella, and I am currently pursuing a BFA in Dance as part of the inaugural class of 2019 at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. Simultaneously, I am also pursuing my master’s in public administration through the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy’s progressive degree program.
This summer, I had the amazing honor of interning at The Music Center’s Education Department. I worked with some of the nicest and most amazing people. In my first month, I learned so much about interdepartmental relationships. I had the opportunity to attend several cross-department meetings, which offered me great insights on how a large organization like The Music Center, with numerous departments, collaborates and communicates on a regular basis.
Moreover, I had the opportunity to work on The Music Center’s Summer Arts Studio for Educators. In these sessions, The Music Center teaching artists demonstrated how to incorporate all areas of the arts in daily lesson plans for educators of students K-12. The summer sessions were my main focus.
This amazing opportunity that has offered me the necessary foundation for a career in the public sector. Post-graduation, I plan to pursue a performance career in a neoclassical dance company, and, after a lengthy career, perhaps become either a dean of a university dance program or even run for public office.
