This Week @MusicCenterLA

Such an exciting week at The Music Center!

If you’re anything like us, you’re beside yourself that Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is in town! There are six opportunities to see them this week, and three different programs to choose from!

In anticipation for National Picnic Day (April 23rd), we’re kicking off Picnic Season early with PicnicDTLA in Grand Park this Saturday from 12-4.

Center Theatre Group continues its run of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella at the Ahmanson. Did you know Fran Drescher is in it as the wicked stepmother?!

LA Phil presents the drama of Brahms’ Fourth this Friday – Sunday, and then on Sunday experience Organ Recital: Olivier Latry, one of the official organists at Notre Dame in Paris!

REDCAT presents three opportunities to see Hotel Modern: The Great War in which this Dutch theater ensemble re-create the WWI Western Front from dollhouse-scale props and ordinary household materials and then utilize video cameras to project the action onto an overhead screen, accompanied by live sound effects and spoken narration from actual soldiers’ letters! Then on Monday evening see the revival screening of Kidlat Tahimik: Perfumed Nightmare, what Werner Herzog attributed as “One of the most original and poetic works of cinema made anywhere in the seventies.”
