We’ve been doing a lot of thinking over here about what it takes to be a male dancer. With our upcoming performances from all-male dance company BalletBoyz in the Ahmanson Theatre November 7-9th, we’ve been shifting our focus onto all the amazing men in dance – past and present. Of course, we have our favorites, Baryshnikov, Ángel Corella, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Jacques d’Amboise… The list goes on and on.
But the cheekily innovative BalletBoyz brings a whole new generation of male dancers to the forefront of the dance world – all proving with each performance that real men, totally wear tights!
Get to know this young crop of amazing male artists before they take the stage here in LA by watching “Balletboyz: The Next Generation” this Thursday October 30th at 10:00pm on PBS SoCal. The documentary follows the meteoric rise of the current company from first auditions, through performances in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It’s a wonderfully inspiring story with amazing performances and inside looks at what these incredible athletes go though all in the name of bringing innovative dance to the world!
